Flexible friendly and informed guide

We were lucky enough to have Salim who showed us some of the hot spots of West Salalah at the end of the Khareef season. He was fantastic, very flexible, would stop where we wanted to and never rushed as along as some guides do. Good conversationalist, good english, and generally friendly chap!

Really great half day out

Our guide, Ahmed, was very friendly and showed us some beautiful sites of Salalah and the mountains. We especially loved the beaches and blow holes. There was a lot of driving but it was still a great day out from the hotel and we are very glad that we did it!

Super customized tour.

We had a tour according to our needs, having two small children and we discovered wonderful and hidden places. Mohammed, our guide, was really nice and gave us a lot of information and showed interesting videos. The only negative note: we would have liked two baby car seats, but it was not possible to find the second one since it was broken. I anyway give 5 stars because our request for the seats was made less than 24 hours before the start of the tour. I recommend Beautiful Salalah Tours!

A good experience

I was not expecting to be so drawn by the blowholes along the Mughsayl cliffs area, which are located 45 kilometres from Salalah. I reckon it must have been because of the Al Marneef cave overlooking them and the welcoming smiles of an Omani family visiting them who attempted to talk to us. The huge sandy beach coastline gave it a special touch as well.

Wadi Darbat

Wadi Darbat is frankly a unique tourist place in the Dhofar Governorate and is suitable for everyone, whether young, old or children... due to the creativity of the Creator in the beauty of nature and the distinctive water lakes that you can roam by renting a boat for you and your family. I visited the tourist attraction in Jun 2023 And I saw a distinguished occupation from the past, where there are restaurants, cafes and children's games. The sliding wire has also been added for young and old.

Amazing experience.

Excellent tour! Highly recommend both the East and West tour. The scenery and lush green landscape and waterfalls are stunning. The cliffs and beaches on the west tour are breathtaking, must be experienced. We chose half day tours for both, but perhaps a full day would be better, especially for the west tour with lots of beautiful expansive scenery to walk among. Our tour guide Mahdi was great, very informative and friendly, as all Omanis are. Inshallah we will visit again in the future!

WEST SALALAH HALF DAY TOUR

We continued with Beautiful Salalah tour and our guide Abu Salim to the west side for a half day tour. The ride was amazing and scenic cliff and beach views. Our guide went above and beyond to help us buy good quality luban (frankincense) from the frankincense souq and treat us to some refreshing Salalah grown coconut water. We had a great two days in Salalah and Abu Salim made it special.

West of Salalah with best tour guide - Abu Salim

Melissa DSilva Melissa DSilva 5 contributions 1 West of Salalah with best tour guide - Abu Salim Sep 2023 • Couples Salalah, Oman was on Arijit and my checklist since the time we moved to the UAE. A oasis in the dessert, this place literally had everything to offer. We had done our research and knew what all we wanted to do. We decided to start our trip with a private tour to the west of Salalah. We booked our private trip through Agoda.com and found a decently priced trip offered by Beautiful Salalah Tours. The trip was booked for 2 p.m. and the tourist guide arrived with his car on time. Our tourist guide's name was Abu Salim, who is a local Omani, and in this review, you will discover how lucky we are and why he is the best. The trip started with a 40-minute drive to the West of Salalah. The weather in the city was pretty pleasant, but Abu Salim told us that as we go up the mountain, it is just going to get better. So we started a climb and started witnessing the beauty of the mountains and valleys. Our first stop was a beautiful cliff point from where we could see mountain ranges till the end of time on our right and a little bit of sea peeping from the back of mountains on the left. Clouds were floating down into the mountains, and it looked breathtaking. Abu Salim took a few pictures of me and my hubby (our first picture together in Salalah) with this magnificent backdrop. We continued our climb and saw on the way some naturally occuring Frankincense trees. Abu Salim explained how the quality of Frankincense differed from the ones found near the sea and the one found deep in the mountains away from the sea. It is also graded in quality based on its colour. Some important information that helped us purchase different qualities of Frankicense to take back home. As we climbed height, the roads got covered in thick clouds, it was drizzling ever so mildly, and we put the windows down to feel the crisp cold air. We reached our next viewpoint from where we could see the full stretch of Fazayah Beach. The sea looked harsh and beautiful. We just couldn't stop looking at the waves crashing down the huge boulders. The water was a mixture of turquoise and ice blue (reflecting the clouds above). Post this, we started our ride down a mountain towards Fazayah beach. Abu Salim asked if he could take us to a secret spot on the way that he knows and we immediately agreed. We arrived at a huge natural cave that had sort of like a window hole inside from where you could see the mountains and greenery while the other side opened to a cliff and the sea. The picture in picture view from this cute cave window was unique, and we were glad we got to experience this with Abu Salim's guidance. After this quick halt, we drove to Fazayah Beach, and he took us to the other side of the beach's stretch as we had the beach all to ourselves. Abu Salim gave me and my hubby some privacy to enjoy some quiet time, as we walked along the shore. There were white pebbles with pink marbling on them on the beach, and of course, I told a couple back home as souvenirs. It was time to head to our next spot to see the hidden beach. This beach is literally hidden between two mountains and has turquoise blue water - mesmerising! As it was soon going to be sunset and we still had three more things to cover, we quickly moved on to Mugsail. Just before arriving at Mugsail, Abu Salim advised us to stop at a spot where we can take panoramic pictures of the Mugsail beach, the adjoining huge caves, the 'Blowhorns' and amazing landscape of the surrounding areas. It was so windy at this spot. After taking in this amazing view, we head over to Mugsail. Abu Salim drove us as close as possible and gave us the privacy to walk up to the beach and caves. This place is so well maintained. It looks like mini Scotland! The caves are huge... as tall as a 6-storey building or more. We then went to the spot of the Blowhorns. This is such a fascinating natural occurrence. The 'Blowhorns' are basically holes that have formed inside these hill-sized boulders, and as the waves of the Mugsail beach crash into it, the water blows out the top of these boulders. This will definitely blow your mind, no pun intended. We saw the sunset from this place and decided to head back home. There was only one thing left to do, though. While in the car, Abu Salim described how camel meat was made on stones in Oman. We wanted to try the local meat and ask if he could advise any place. On the way back, he took us to a local place to try this meat and take some back our hotel for dinner along with their traditional rice. The food was yum! This marked the end of our trip to the west of Salalah. And with all the highlights we had during the trip, I think the best one was Abu Salim. We got to know so much from him about the local culture and shared stories to our hearts content. Thank you, Beautiful Salalah and Abu Salim, for etching these unforgettable lifetime memories in our hearts and minds.
