Pickup and Departure:

Pickup Locations: Hotels in Salalah, Hawana Salalah, Mirbat, and Hinubay.

Morning pickup from your hotel with stop on the way for refreshment (Karak Tea) provided as we head towards Mirbat, taking in scenic mountain views and beach views along the way.

Historical Sites of the Dhofar Rebellion:

Background of the Dhofar Rebellion (1962–1976): A crucial chapter in Oman’s history, the Dhofar Rebellion was an insurgency in the Dhofar region against the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman. Supported by various factions, including Yemeni socialist forces, the rebellion aimed to address grievances of the Dhofari people and was eventually countered by the Omani government with support from the British. This conflict played a significant role in modernizing Oman and reshaping its political landscape.

Visit to sites that played a role in the Dhofar Rebellion and view landmarks associated with the military operations, including locations that served as strategic points during the conflict such as Mirbat Castle.

Mirbat Fort:

Tour the historical Mirbat Fort, an impressive structure dating back to the 19th century. Step inside to explore its rooms and corridors, once used by rulers to oversee the region. The fort offers insights into Oman’s defensive architecture and the history of Mirbat as a strategic coastal town.

Old Town and Market Exploration:

Wander through Mirbat’s Old Town, filled with traditional Omani houses and architecture that provide a glimpse into the area’s rich history and culture.

Visit the bustling local market, where you’ll find everything from traditional crafts to fresh produce, experiencing the lively atmosphere and the authentic charm of Mirbat.

Mirbat Beach and Harbour:

Next, we visit the Mirbat Beach, a quiet, picturesque spot known for its clear waters and peaceful surroundings. Walk along the harbor, where traditional Dhofari fishing boats, or dhows, are moored, reflecting the town’s long-standing fishing heritage.

Lunch at a Traditional Restaurant:

Break for lunch at a local restaurant, where you’ll enjoy authentic Omani dishes. The meal provides a perfect opportunity to savor the unique flavors of Dhofar. Mirbat is famous for the fresh sea food such as fishes, Calamari, lobsters, Mussels and Shrimps. 

Don’t worry if you are not eating sea food. Mirbat has other options to eat as well. 

The lunch stop is included in the tour, but you have to pay at the restaurant. 

Ad Damar Beach – Sand Dune Bashing Adventure:

The last stop is Ad Damar Beach, known for its sand dunes – the closest spot for a thrilling dune-bashing experience near Salalah. Though smaller than the Empty Quarter (Check our Sunset Desert Safari at Empty Quarter), these dunes offer a perfect mini-adventure to end the day, with some beautiful beach views.

Return Journey to Salalah and Drop-off:

After a day filled with exploration and history, we begin the scenic drive back to Salalah. Drop-off will be at your hotel in Salalah or other locations (such as Hawana Salalah and Mirbat) as per your convenience.
